I’m Going to Disney World!
Mississippi’s Lakeview Pirates win World Series Birth
A 13-year-old Major USSSA select baseball team centered in Rankin County is going to the Elite 24 World Series at Disney World Wide Sports Complex on August 2. The Lakeview Pirates are among only 24 teams nationally invited to the tournament and Mississippi’s only qualifier.

Team parent Randy Rachel said the Elite 24 Championship is going to be the biggest stage the Pirates have yet been able to perform on. “The Pirates,” he said, “have come from being a ‘nobody’ at the large tournaments to being a ‘feared competitor.’ ”
Most of the Pirates hail from Rankin County; some come from Simpson and
Neshoba counties.
As of mid-June, the Pirates were ranked 12th in the National Power
rankings for USSSA Major Teams across the country.
In May, the Pirates won an Elite 24 World Series berth at a Super
National Invitational Tournament in Hoover, Alabama. In June the Pirates
finished first at a Super National Invitational Event in Pace, Florida.
The Pirates are fundraising to offset traveling costs. Those interested
in donating may call (601) 573-2753 or e-mail Baseballguru1@comcast.net.
