Soccer Player Update
Rachel Givan:
Ridgeland, MS
Mississippi Fire phenom Rachel Givan of Ridgeland, MS had a strong freshman season with the North Carolina Tar Heels Women’s soccer team.
The two-time Parade All-America and two-time NSCAA Youth soccer All-America played on several U.S. youth soccer national teams prior to joining the Tar Heels; that experience showed.
Only 11 players on Carolina’s 29-person roster logged more minutes this season than Givan, who plays striker.
She started 11 games and played in 21 of 24 games for a total of 1,209 minutes.
A member of North Carolina’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Givan loves to hunt and fish. She credits Chicago Fire midfielder and Mississippi native Justin Mapp as having the biggest influence on her soccer career. SS
