Juniors Learn Golf at "The Wee Links" at The Refuge in Flowood

For years, junior golfers have had to play when adults weren't on the golf course or to play with a parent. But some juniors don't have golfers for parents. And no junior golfer enjoys trying to learn a new shot or swing on a course while adults tap their feet behind, waiting to make their next shot.

So where can a junior golfer get vital real-game, real-course experience without the accompanying anxiety?

The Wee Links at The Refuge in Flowood are a three-hole par-3 course with real putting greens. No adults are even allowed on the Wee Links without "child supervision."

The course lets young golfers play on their own time, any time, says Randy Tupper, The Refuge's head golf professional and director of the Randy Tupper Academy of Golf headquartered at The Refuge. "We also use the Wee Links for our annual junior golf clinics."

The greens now also feature the same quality Tifdwarf bermuda-grass golfers have come to expect on the regulation course at The Refuge. Wee Links and its new greens will re-open this fall.

"It provides an unparalleled opportunity for young golfers," explains Nathan Crace of Watermark Golf Management, which operates the course for the City of Flowood. And play on the Wee Links is free of charge! Generous local businesses donated the money for this course, so that it would be a learning center for area junior golfers.
